SMEs could really help to reduce the budget deficit

As part of their announcement on efficiency in the spring, the Treasury outlined specific savings of £95 million through reductions in IT spending.

The natural response may be to simply reduce the number of projects or scale down existing contracts. However, by using more SMEs for the delivery of their key IT contracts, the government could easily meet all of its' original objectives whilst still making significant savings.
