We are guided by the following four principles at Assist:

  • To offer and continuously improve an online solution for the next generation of Social Care that contributes significantly to the empowerment of the user.
  • To understand the needs of all the stakeholders involved in the management, delivery and consumption of Social Care  and how such a system can  help in the delivery of the Government's personalisation agenda
  • To provide flexibility, choice and guidance, for local authorities who have  the challenge of implementing the Government's new agenda.
  • To use open  source technologies, shared platforms, cloud compatible architecture and  mainstream standards to keep costs low and  maximise sharing potential.

Who we aim to serve:
The recipient of social care is put in a position of true control over the choices they make. Wherever possible, carers, friends and family can be involved and, because service and product providers will have to compete for the individual's transaction, quality and safety become as important as price (if not more so). The transparency of the Assist system allows the client to clearly show their Authority that personal budgets are used effectively and equally allows self-funders to get the most from their resources.

Likewise, Carers and Brokers, who have been appointed to act on behalf of others, are themselves given the confidence of knowing that whatever choices they make will be well-informed and that the services or products they select will comply with the appropriate standards of quality and safety. Their portal activity too can be readily reviewed by all who need to sanction them.

Assist benefits Local Authorities by enabling them to fulfil their Duty of Care to the service user - and to provide evidence of that compliance. Other features also ensure LA staff and appointed professionals can be confident the appropriate standards are being met.  Never forgetting that the overall cost of delivering social care can be reduced, as many features are included to make the process more efficient. Perhaps the most important benefit of offered by Assist  is meeting the organisational needs of each and every Local Authority making the transition from traditional Social Care delivery to the self-directed model - from whatever stage of implementation they have currently reached.
