A NICE contract win for System Associates

March 23, 2007

5-year contract awarded for CMS, search engine and support services by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence

System Associates, a leading provider of enterprise-wide internet solutions, has won a five year contract with the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) to provide a content management system, search engine and support services for the effective management of information on www.nice.org.uk.

NICE is an independent organisation responsible for providing national guidance on the promotion of good health and the prevention and treatment of ill health. The website contains a wide range of information from details of NICE's processes and published guidance to interactive consultations and searchable databases. The site has to cater for a broad audience which includes members of the public, doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals and the media. As part of an ongoing commitment to improving information available from the Institute, a new, improved content management system should enable NICE to manage, more effectively, information which is fed to the site from a variety of sources.

System Associates is providing its content management system, g-Serve, a bespoke content management solution which can be tailored to specific organisational requirements. It is a system which has been authored exclusively in the UK and developed over a number of years to be particularly relevant to the public sector, .orgs and highly regulated organisations, which need to publish a wide range and large volume of electronic information.

The content management system complies with e-GIF standards and allows the fast loading of documents in a variety of formats. It will include a user registration and subscription system to enable relevant information, including html newsletters, to be sent via email to subscribed users. Interactivity will also be built in, so that users can complete online surveys, order online publications and make event bookings. In addition, System Associates will provide its search engine technology, g-Seek, which has been specifically developed and tested with public sector organisations in mind.

Heidi Livingstone, Associate Director of NICE's eMedia team, comments "We liked the fact that System Associates' technology already had compliance and standardised metadata built-in. This, combined with a very user-friendly web-based interface, should allow us to manage content more effectively and provide enhanced web services to site visitors."
