System Associates in finals of eGovernment National Awards for Your London web portal

December 19, 2005

The Your London portal, developed by White Waltham based System Associates, is a finalist within two categories of the prestigious eGovernment Awards. System Associates is a specialist web technology provider for the public sector and won the Your London tender against some major competitors, last year. Within six months of winning the contract the first prototype went live and Phase II is due to launch this month.

Your London aims to bring together the city's public services information via a single web portal, so that regardless of where a user lives, or works, they will be led to the information most relevant to them. It will provide an essential guide to London for residents, visitors, commuters, students and investors with an interest in London. Prior to its development, there was little online information that unified all aspects of London life and little to exhibit London as one of the world's greatest cities.

Categories for which Your London is nominated are 'eGovernment excellence in joined-up services' and 'local eGovernment excellence for team-working'.

Your London is an excellent example of joined up working. The portal aims to provide information about London's public services without being restricted by borough boundaries and is seen as an important eGovernment collaborative project. It involves many public services including 32 London borough councils, the Corporation of London, the ALG, the GLA, Transport for London, the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority, London Development, Visit London, Business Link4London, the NHS and the London Library Development Agency.

The team working category recognises the private/public sector partnership and team working of London Connects, the organisation responsible for the delivery of the project, and System Associates, lead development partner responsible for all aspects of the portal's development.

Cabinet Office Minister, Jim Murphy says: "eGovernment is one of the most important ways the Government can deliver public services reform. We are committed to developing Government IT systems and services that make real and tangible improvements to the lives of British people and businesses. The eGovernment National Awards are our way of recognising the best attempts to deliver on this commitment."

The winners of the eGovernment Awards will be announced at a ceremony on 25th January 2006 at the Savoy Hotel, London.
